How To: Install Apps on Your iPhone

If you wanted to install third-party native software in your iPhone but you didn't had the necessary technical knowledge or courage, the newly updated iPhone Installer.app will make it so easy that it will be very hard to resist. We have tried it in Mac OS X and, as you will see in the tutorial after the jump, it works perfectly -including the installation of applications over Wi-Fi and EDGE. [Updated 4:45PM EST]

Once you download the application from the link below, you only have to connect your iPhone to your Mac (PowerPC and Intel will work, we have tried both) and run the script from the Mac OS X Terminal. Doing this is quite simple:
other steps...

Step 1

Tap the "A" icon labeled "App Store" from the main screen.
Step 2

Tap "Search" at the bottom of the screen, then tap the text entry area at the top of the screen.
Step 3

Type part of the name of the application you would like to install using the iPhone's virtual keyboard, then tap "Search."
Step 4

Tap the name of the application you would like to install from the results list.
Step 5

Tap the "FREE" or "PAID" button at the top-right of the screen. If the application is free, the button will immediately turn into a green "Install" option. If it is a paid application, you will need to tap "Authorize" to the payment dialogue to purchase the item using the credit card attached to your Apple account. At this point, the button will turn green.
Step 6

Tap "Install."
Step 7

Enter your iTunes password. The program will be immediately downloaded and installed to your iPhone.
